Posted September 30, 2018 07:47:50 A lot of the best banana and almond milks are made from condensed coconut milk.
But do you know what else they’re made from?
And how can you make it better?
Learn the secrets of making the best milk from condensed milk and how to prepare it ahead of time.
1.
Prepare your condensed milk by making a homemade version.
Coconut milk is often sold in the refrigerated section of the grocery store, but it’s often in its most concentrated form, in ice cubes.
So start by making your own condensed milk from ice cubes, using only two tablespoons of water.
You can find this condensed milk at most grocery stores.
(See how to make condensed milk .)
2.
Then add the condensed milk to the bowl of ice cubes you made.
Stir it vigorously to mix it all up. 3.
Add the milk to your blender.
Start with 1/2 cup of the milk and add more as needed until you get the consistency you want.
This will take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the speed of your blender and how much milk you add.
If you don’t have a blender, you can also use a coffee grinder or food processor.
4.
Add water to the blender and blend for another few seconds.
Pour out the condensed and blend again until all of the liquid is gone.
(That’s about 30 seconds.)
You can use a measuring cup or spoon to make sure it’s all incorporated.
If it’s not, you may have to add a little more liquid.
5.
Use a measuring spong to scoop out any liquid from the blender.
It should form a little ball with about a tablespoon of liquid in each scoop.
(If you have a measuring spoon, it should come out about the size of a tennis ball.)
6.
You want to add about one cup of water to each scoop of water and mix it with your hands, gently swirling the mixture as you mix.
It’s OK if the mixture is too thin, just enough to coat your spoon.
7.
Then pour the liquid back into the blender, and blend a few more times to coat the spoon with the liquid.
8.
You’re done!
Pour the condensed liquid into a bowl and refrigerate until ready to use.
(This is a recipe for homemade condensed milk that you can freeze for up to 2 weeks or until it’s ready to eat.)
9.
Serve the condensed with a banana-flavored dip, or if you’re feeling especially fancy, top it with coconut or almond butter, vanilla ice cream, or a little nutella.
(You can also serve this with vanilla almond milk.)
You could also use the coconut milk to make a smoothie or make a banana and nutella ice cream.
If that’s your thing, try it with a little almond butter or banana puree.
Or you could even make a chocolate-covered chocolate chip cookie.
(It can be really sweet on the inside, too!)
