The Dallas Cowboys will face the Tennessee Titans in their second game of the season on Sunday.
It will be the first game in which the two teams are on opposite coasts since their NFC championship game.
The Cowboys are on the road for the first time in eight weeks.
In the meantime, there’s been plenty of talk about the league’s handling of sexual assault.
But there’s also been plenty about the Cowboys’ response.
On Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters he’d like to see a national conversation about sexual assault, and that he wants to have an “appropriate response.”
The team has been hit with several lawsuits over sexual assault allegations in recent months, but Jones has been steadfast in his belief that it’s not a priority.
“I would love to have a conversation about it,” Jones said.
“If it wasn’t for this, it would have been too much for the game to handle.
We can’t stop it.
I’d love to know that conversation because that’s why I don’t want to sit here and tell people, ‘Hey, I’ll be sitting in the back seat in the house, watching you guys get assaulted and you’re not even paying attention to what I’m saying.’
I think it’s important for us to talk about that.”
This is a time when the NFL is going through a rough patch.
The league is trying to improve its response to domestic violence, and the league has been criticized for the way it handled the Ray Rice domestic violence case.
But it has also been plagued by a number of other scandals, including the league-wide investigation into former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s protest anthem protests.
And the NFL’s handling has been under intense scrutiny after the arrest of a player during a preseason game, and several of the team’s top officials have been forced to resign over allegations of misconduct.
This isn’t the first sexual assault scandal to come up during the Cowboys offseason.
In February, a female employee filed a complaint against Jones, and in June, two former players who had been suspended for violating the NFL policy of “respecting the privacy and safety of players and coaches” filed a lawsuit against the team, accusing the Cowboys of sexual harassment.
On Monday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced a new sexual harassment policy that will go into effect in 2017.
In addition to changing how players handle sexual assault complaints, the new policy will require teams to notify the NFL of any allegation against players, including allegations of assault.
The new policy is expected to take effect this season, and it is the first major policy change from the league to be implemented this year.
Jones and the Cowboys haven’t made any public announcements about the new program, but he has been quick to praise the NFL for its “work on this issue.”
He told reporters Tuesday that the NFL has been “very good” on addressing the issue.
“There are going to be a lot of questions about that.
But, it’s good to have this conversation,” Jones added.
“We can’t be silent about it.
We’re going to have to make some changes in our culture, in our workplaces, to better understand it.”
There’s a lot more that can be done, though, if the NFL can work with other sports leagues to address this issue.
In November, ESPN reported that the league had reached out to the National Football League about its response and was willing to work with the NFLPA to address the issue, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has also spoken about the issue with the league.
But many in sports think that’s not enough.
“It’s a shame that we’ve got a football league that’s so afraid to have conversations with us about sexual violence,” the NFL Players Association’s executive director, Troy Vincent, said on The Herd last week.
“That’s what they do.
They’re afraid to talk to us.”
“They’re afraid of us.”
There is a chance that the Cowboys could change their attitude toward the issue this season.
In a letter to the NFL, Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott said that he’s been “stunned and disappointed” by the league, but that the “tolerance” for sexual assault has “remained unquestioned.”
Elliott also called for more women in the NFL to speak up.
“In the NFL today, we don’t tolerate sexual harassment and assault,” Elliott wrote.
“This is unacceptable.
We are a safe place for women to be, to be strong and confident.
We should not tolerate this kind of behavior in any place in our game.
We need to get this right.”
And while some fans have been more vocal about their displeasure with the Cowboys than others, the Cowboys aren’t the only ones with a problem with the way the NFL handled the Rice case.
According to a recent survey by the advocacy group the National Women’s Law Center, one-third of NFL players believe they were treated unfairly in the Rice investigation.
And in November, the league was hit with another lawsuit over the conduct of a
