Why I love yogurt but hate the term “healthy”

The word “healthy”, as used by health food experts, is a bit loaded.

It means something like “high in protein, low in calories and fat”, which is a fine description of most dairy products.

But what about other health claims?

For example, that milk, like yogurt, has antioxidants?

Does that mean that it’s the healthiest?

Well, it depends.

“Antioxidants are important to the immune system, so the antioxidants that milk contains can help you fight disease,” says Lisa Brown, nutritionist and health expert.

“There’s also a lot of studies showing that milk can help protect against cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.”

The term “healthy” is an interesting one.

It refers to a healthful food that has fewer calories, and therefore less saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium than many of its competitors.

“You can get the same nutrients with less fat and less sodium,” says Brown.

“And there’s no reason to think that it would be any different to what we have in our daily food.

The only difference between healthful and healthy food is the source.”

If you think that the word “healthiest” is loaded, then you might want to consider adding it to your grocery shopping list.

Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the more healthful dairy products on the market today.

1.

Raw, unsalted and unsweetened milk.

A recent survey by the Consumer Federation of America found that about 1 in 10 Americans drink milk from a non-vegetarian, non-canned source.

A third drink milk straight from the cow, and another third drink it through a straw.

According to the American Dairy Council, milk has 70% more calories than other dairy products, has less sodium than other milk products, and is a rich source of calcium.

It’s also low in fat and cholesterol, and contains the healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

“If you’re trying to get a healthy-sounding product, and you’re not looking at all of the ingredients,” says Michael Deane, an American Dairy Products Association member, “there’s a lot more to consider than just the calories.”

So why is raw milk considered the healthier option?

Deane says that raw milk comes from a cow who doesn’t have to process it into dairy products at all, but it still gets the nutrients it needs.

“It’s really the protein,” says Deane.

“The fat is from milk.

The milk proteins are really low in sodium, so there’s less fat.”

Also, it’s cheaper to make, he says.

“We’re all buying it in bulk.”

2.

Non-dairy milk.

If you’re looking for a way to get the nutrients you need without the dairy, you might consider looking at organic milk.

In the US, only about 20% of all dairy is organic, according to the National Organic Program.

But the organic milk industry is growing.

The organic dairy sector accounts for about 15% of the US market, and has about 1.2 million members.

Organic milk is generally much higher in fat, protein and sodium.

“Organic milk is really high in omega-6 and omega-9,” says Dottie Brown, a dairy expert.

She adds that “organic milk has a lot less sodium and a lot fewer carbs than conventional milk, and it’s a much richer source of protein.”

3.

Nonhydrogenated oils.

These include vegetable oils and canola, canola oil, canard seed, rapeseed and rapeseed oil.

These are the ones that are actually in the food we eat.

The USDA has a chart that shows the health benefits of the different types of oils.

“Canola oil is actually one of the best sources of vitamin A and other omega-5 fatty acids, and can also be used as a thickener,” says Dan Grommer, vice president of marketing and sales for the American Soybean Association.

And the soybean oil industry claims that canola is 100% healthier than other oils.

So you’re basically getting all of those nutrients that your body needs without the added sugar.

“Oils are good for the environment because they’re a renewable source of energy,” says Gromming.

“They’re also the most nutrient-dense food available.”

4.

Dairy-free milks.

These milks are made from cow’s milk and are made without the use of hormones.

They are also high in protein and are low in fats and cholesterol.

They’re also less expensive than other alternatives.

“I would not recommend non-diet milks to anyone,” says Alissa O’Brien, senior vice president and director of corporate affairs at the American Cheese Institute.

“Dairy-free is not a substitute for organic milk.”

5.

Nonfat milk.

This is a type of milk that contains no milk fat, and may not contain added sugar or artificial flavorings.
